A Year's Oath, Week Ten

"I shall paint one model every week, without fail, for a year."

Week ten sees a return to Infinity with my Nomad's Lt (ssshhh, don't tell anyone!), my Reverend Custodier.

I've actually done a few more touch-ups after this picture was taken, but such is the nature of my affliction.  Once the weather is nice enough I'll get her sealed, then there's no more temptation to meddle!

A Year's Oath, Week Nine

"I shall paint one model every week, without fail, for a year."

Wow, time flies when you have a new baby.  Not been able to get out of the whirlwind long enough to do much, but I did manage to finish my Necron Destroyer Lord, Svikarin, for a successful week nine.

Not much to say about this guy.  The model is top half Lichguard / Triarch Praetorian bits, the bottom half is just a Wraith's tail.  I thought as it's my warlord it was probably about time to give him a decent base (plus, as a Destroyer, legally he needs to be on at least a base as big as a large flying base), so I bought this base from Micro Art Studio and I'm pretty impressed.  I might start using more of their bases outside of my Infinity models.

The only thing left to do on him is to gloss up his armour plates, but that needs to wait until he's dry and been sealed.

A Year's Oath, Weeks Five and Six

"I shall paint one model every week, without fail, for a year."

I have an excuse for this one!

See, I spent week five making this:

So I didn't exactly get much painting done.  I'm not even mad.

Week six however saw me finish a Nomad Zero that's been going on so long I'm sick of the sight of him:

I'm not super happy with the way this guy turned out (and I've made a few little touch-ups afterwards), but he's now varnished and sealed so, as they say on Arrakis - "It is complete, because it ends here."

A Year's Oath, Week Four

"I shall paint one model every week, without fail, for a year."

This was a slight change to the usual program.  Rather than paint one model I finished one I was working on and then repaired all the damage the other two had taken from having their bases changed and general play.  I hadn't appreciated how badly the paint would wear before I put them on the table, so there was a fair amount of stuff needing fixing.  Still, they're now done and sealed - no more damage!

A Year's Oath, Week Three

"I shall paint one model every week, without fail, for a year."

I did fail on this one - having to visit the dentist and the hospital several times in one week messed up my schedule after I was delaying while trying to choose a scheme. All finished now and back on track for week four!

Week three's model - a PHR Athena Air Superiority Fighter from Dropzone Commander:

Also, a couple of WIP shots of the above:

A Year's Oath, Week One

Throne of Skulls was pretty exciting - we won a fair few awards and had a blast.  That's not what this article is about though, it's about an oath.  An oath made on the sun bathed balcony of Bugman's Bar.  Was it an oath of overconfidence?  An oath born of the heady flush of victory?  Time will tell, but for now I'll simply repeat it:

"I shall paint one model every week, without fail, for a year."

Fifty two models might not seem a lot, but when you remember that I've recently moved house (with a lot to do) and have my next child due very shortly, it's still a bold statement.

Each Monday I shall have finished a new model, though I can't "stack up" models to count for later weeks as that would be cheating.  The first model completed was a Space Marine Ironclad Dreadnought for my Sanguine Swords army:

I can't finish the base because I'm missing some magnets I need.  This dread has an internal magnet at the top to attach to the magnet in my Stormraven's magna-grapple during flight, so I need to magnetise the base for while it's being carried.

Week two's model is a Nomad Lizard TAG from Infinity.  Will I finish it in time?  Well, the fact it's partially done in the completion photo above is kind of a hint... Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...
